Financial & Operational Leadership for Stronger Classrooms

The Akron School Board faces tough choices that will shape our district’s future—its finances, its operations, and our students’ ability to succeed.

With decades of leadership experience in organizations known for fiscal responsibility and financial strength, Phil will bring steady, transparent leadership to ensure:

  • Genuine engagement with families, teachers, and the community that leads to smart, informed decisions

  • Efficient use of resources and facilities to create safe, welcoming learning environments

  • Strong financial strategies that keep classrooms thriving and students learning

  • Long-term, sustainable solutions that secure the district’s financial and operational future

Academic Success Begins with Strong Partnerships

Phil believes every student deserves the chance to succeed—and that happens when schools, families, and the community work hand in hand.

Phil’s Priorities for Success:

  • Empowering Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to strengthen family voices in our schools

  • Communicating openly and honestly about key issues like finances, facilities, and safety

  • Listening to APS families to better understand their needs and priorities

  • Expanding wraparound services through Family Resource Centers to support the whole child

  • Rebuilding College & Career Academies partnerships that connect students with real opportunities for their futures

Smart Strategies for Safer Schools

Every child deserves to feel safe at school. Phil knows that improving school safety takes more than policies—it takes partnership, planning, and compassion.

Phil believes:

  • STUDENTS should feel secure in their classrooms and have more access to positive, engaging out-of-school activities

  • STAFF deserve the tools, training, and support to create safe, confident learning environments

  • FAMILIES benefit from expanded wraparound services that build stronger connections and keep students engaged

  • OUR COMMUNITY must work hand in hand with APS and local organizations to reduce youth violence and build stronger, safer schools
